Hilton Fined 25k for Allegedly Obstructing FCC WiFi Investigation
Hilton Worldwide is being fined $25,000 for allegedly obstructing the Federal Trade Commission’s investigation into its WiFi practices. The probe began last November after guests reported their WiFi hotspots were being blocked by the hotel. The FCC accused the Hilton of failing to provide information and documents for “a vast majority of its properties” – and said it will impose additional fines for any further delays.
This isn’t the first time the FCC cracked down on the hotel industry for blocking WiFi. The Marriott International was fined $600,000 in October 2014.
